It is a chilly December evening and we have just arrived at HH Logistics Oy, a logistics firm situated in Vantaa, Finland. We are greeted by Guy Hornborg, the managing director of HH Logistics. company premises, we are guided in to the operations control building that serves as also as the place where the crew is able to relax. The company offers billiard table and other recreational services for free to its employees to keep their spirit up.

As we sit down, we get straight into business, as Guy starts telling about the history of the firm. The firm was established in 1995. At that time, it operated with just one truck. Over the last 15 years, the company has grown steadily and it has also expanded its business to include warehousing services. The firm's warehouses are also located at the headquarters in Vantaa and can be rented for full-time use or just for temporary stockpiling of goods. HH Logistics has also implemented a state-of-the-art real-time operations control system that minimizes non-value adding time in the logistics' chain and automatically keeps the customers informed about the status of their shipment. All drivers were given their own PDAs that are continuously connected to the operations control, where the operator can track the location of the shipments. This way the company can also minimise the effect on environment. Making no unnecessary rounds, but well planned logisitics. That is a key issue for future success. Everything is automated and the customer is kept informed via email. "The new system has been a huge success for our customers", states Guy.
