FROM VEEN WITH LOVE

This mans e-mail surprised us from the blue. It struck us without warning and gave us yet another thrill on the wonders of the world. How can things like this happen? How can we continue to be blessed with these events and all these wonderful people? Here is the e-mail conversation that went on between Bjørn Veen from Veen and Mikko Nikkilä from VEEN.

Bjørn Veen: Hello! My name is Bjørn Veen, and I grew up at Veen, 50 km southeast from Stavanger on the west-coast of Norway. I work as a librarian and when I am testing new search methods on the net I often use "Veen" as a search word. Then suddenly I found a website, yours, selling water with the name of "Veen". So I am just wondering if it would be possible to buy or (if Santa Clause really is Finnish) give me a couple of these beautiful bottles. I don't need the water, ours is just fine. Best regards, Bjørn Veen.

Mikko Nikkilä: Hello Mr. Veen, I´m very happy to hear from you! Because Santa really is Finnish I will send you a couple of bottles of VEEN. Could you please send me a little more information on the village Veen? I´d also like to see a picture of you, is it OK to send one? Best Regards, Mikko Nikkilä.

BV: Hello again! That is very kind of you. The disagreement between Norway and Finland about which country Santa Claus is from is officially settled for me now. My letters will go to Soumi. The Veen village is situated between to lakes (Indra Vinjavatn and Ytra Vinjavatn). There are 7 farms there and two caravan-sites. There are cows, Hereford-cattle, sheep and goats on the farms (and of course dogs, cats and horses.) There has been a village there at least from the 1400-century (that is recorded history, but it's probably older). I've put some pictures from the place, one at wintertime, and one at summer and one mugshot of me. Enjoy. Best regards, Bjørn Veen.

(PS. There is also a village in the Netherlands called Veen, I haven't researched that one that much. One of the singers in a band called Abney Park is called Magdelene Veen.

MN: Hello Brjön, Your picture was awesome! So, we wonder can we make a newsletter to our customers (our website and section VEEN walk) and tell them that we found Mr. Veen from Norway? A funny story where we´ll use your picture and your name. I really hope this is OK for you? Mikko.

BV: Hello! As long as you don't make a big commercial out of it and makes tons of Finnish dollars (then I want a piece of the pie) I have no problem with the use of the picture and my name. I have just one small favor to ask, before you send out the story with my picture/name, could I just have a quick look at it? I just wanna know what it says, I don't know many in Finland (just two people) so I have no reputation to worry about, it's just OK to know what's going out on the net because when it's out there, I have no control. (If it's in Finnish, well then I can't read it so it can say anything.) I hope this is OK. Best regards, Bjørn Veen.

MN: Let´s Rock!
