Umeshu

Looking for a great Japanese restaurant in Helsinki? Look no more! Restaurant Umeshu is a quite recent addition in the Oriental restaurant scene in Finland, but it has won the hearts of many lovers of Japanese quisine. At the heart of their values is true love for food: fresh ingredients, hand-made preparation and aesthetic presentation. Umeshu is able to capture and replicate Japanese art of cooking at a very different level than other Japanese restaurants in Helsinki. Go and experience it by yourself!

Japanese quisine has three main themes that comprise five things each. According to tradition, each dish should comprise five colours (black, white, yellow, red and green), five preparation methods (boiling, grilling, frying, steaming, and of course raw, like sushi) and five flavours (sweet, sour, strong, bitter, and salt).

The staff of Umeshu has spent tremendous amount of time to research hundreds-of-years-old traditions in Japanese quisine and thus the result is simply astonishing for a Nordic restaurant. Mixing both traditional ingredients and seasonal flavours, Umeshu offers one of the most intriguing dining experiences in Helsinki.
