VEEN Wins Good Design
VEEN Waters wins the most important global design award. VEEN ”Wave 66” springwater bottle wins the renowned GOOD DESIGN award for 2007.
The GOOD DESIGN awards by the Chicago Athenaeum
GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and the most prestigious Awards Program organized worldwide. The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. present the Museum's annual GOOD DESIGN® Awards Program for the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world.
Founded in Chicago in 1950 by the former MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., together with such pioneers in modern design as Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright and George Nelson. GOOD DESIGN honors the yearly achievements of the best industrial and graphic designers and world manufactures for their pursuit of extraordinary design excellence.
For 58 years, everything and anything produced in and for the environment from a paperclip to a Boeing 777 have been honored.
"VEEN on its way to become a classic"
VEEN received the ”Best bottle in glass” 2007 award in September and won bronze in the global PENTAWARDS competition 2007. With the latest victory VEEN is on its way to become a design classic. The bottle is designed by Architect Antti Eklund from Finland.
The story of VEEN
Veen Emonen, Mother of the Water, has been our inspiration in delivering you the most sacred waters of the North. She is introduced to us by Kalevala, the Finnish epic poetry, that bears the rise of the Earth and human together with nature´s spirits. She is responsible for raising the first wave highly appreciated by all sailors and fishermen.
The VEEN “Wave 66” -bottle with its curvy back is greatly inspired by the first wave risen by Veen Emonen.
VEEN springwater from near the Arctic Circle
VEEN springwater originates from the Finnish Lappland, from the ”Konisaajo” spring area near the Arctic Circle. As independent UNESCO studies show, Finland has the best water in the world.
The extremely smooth VEEN Velvet still springwater is packed in the award winning ”Wave 66” 0,66L glass bottle. The sparkling collection comes with a variety of bubble sizes. They are packed in the round backed ”Sparkle 69” 0,69L glass bottle.
VEEN Waters Finland Oy
The VEEN springwaters were launched in Finland on the 23rd of August 2007. VEEN Waters Finland Oy was founded in December 2006 by three Finnish entrepreneurs with respect to the purity of Finnish water. The partners are Tomi Grönfors (Managing Director), Ville Hvitfelt (CFO) and Antti Eklund (Brand Director).
Antti Eklund is renowned for his designs for the Italian ALESSI S.P.A. and Finnish Marimekko Oy. He has also held the position of Professor at the University of Art and Design Helsinki 1998-2003. Architect Antti Eklund was born in 1960 and has just recently moved to Baltimore, MD, USA.
The ”Wave 66” bottle is produced by O-I Europe (Thomas Koy), the aluminium covered cap is produced by Finn-Korkki (Rolf Nygård).
